Time Out Chart – When a young child decides not to follow classroom rules, time out may be a consequence. Time out should be a short amount of time and the teacher should not engage with the child during this time. The student will see that being part of the classroom activity and following the rules is much more desirable! Once time out is over, the child may join the class/activity as normal. I recommend using a timer to signify the start and finish time of time out.
